Which One Wednesday | the perspective shift edition

www-perspective-change

Some days all we need is a little change in perspective. Which perspective is more appealing to you?

If you’re new here, (or you just don’t remember because it’s been so long), on Wednesdays I open up the comments for you to tell me which view from a recent photo shoot you prefer.   And why.  I love hearing what you have to say.  You can peruse past Which One? features here.

Which One? Wednesday | wild orchid edition

wild orchid

There are a few beautiful shoots from the end of my pregnancy that never made it on the blog. This clean, inviting bedroom is from a timeless, New England  home I’ll share with you soon.

Today I’d like to talk about styling. Most often I work with the home owner’s belongings to style a shoot. Furniture and decorative pieces may be moved around the home. Sometimes we bring in food or plants or accessories. But in this particular home, we really only needed to move items for the sake of the camera angle. I cannot wait for you to see the rest of the home. It’s so relaxing and inviting with interesting pieces to look at everywhere.

Sometimes I end up with more than one final shot, intending to decide on subtle styling differences during the editing process. For example, above. So if you could please tell me, orchid or no, I’ll pull together the full set to share with you next week. Maybe I’ll even ‘iron’ the bedspread for you… You’re going to love it so much, you’ll be wishing for a Thanksgiving invitation to this cozy home.

So, which one?

Which One? Wednesday | branches edition

tree of lights

tree of lights

It snowed this morning. Well, yesterday morning by the time you are reading this post. And my little one and I had the luxury of staying inside all day, being busy and cozy.

For the past week I’ve been second guessing the Restoration Hardware Starlit Tree laying across my dining room table. You all know that I love me some branches. Especially branches are lit with candles or warm LEDs. But I’m trying to spend as little as possible since my working hours are currently limited, and even on sale these branches were an investment.

Today I put together the tree, and let me tell you, I am so incredibly glad I ordered it. Those lights made me feel immediately giddy and even a bit excited for the coming holidays. Dug also said he felt a bit of holiday spirit when he got home, so I know we are going to enjoy it each day.

So, let’s get to it. Of the 2 shots above, which one moves you more? For me it’s glittery glamour versus moody drama.

Which One? Wednesday | modern versus rustic edition

CT Home Interiors built by Michael Greenberg & Associates | Photo by Michele Scotto Trani | http://sequinedasphault.com

We are so glad to be back for this week’s edition of Which One? Wednesday. Both of these very different homes were photographed recently for Michael Greenberg & Associates.

Now, I’m definitely a modern home kind of girl.  No question about it. And I love this first interior on the left. This home, as I understand, was designed in part as a show piece for a spirited art collection, and it is tremendously successful as such. It also brings the landscape in from the outside, which is one of my weaknesses for the modern aesthetic.

Rustic, to me, hearkens thoughts of Vermont and Maine and skiing (which I do not do at all) and snowboarding (which I do not do well).  So maybe I’m most drawn to the space on the right because it is still winter here in New England.  And there are so many good books around.  I swoon over libraries as you may know. Right now, I just want some morning light, a good book, and to be curled up on that couch until spring.

Which space would you like to inhabit if just for a moment?

Which One? Wednesday | the outdoor shower edition

Last week we had some puddle controversy. The outdoor shower should be luxurious, not distracting. Who wants to be reminded they need to go home and mop their floor? Nobody. Especially me. My floor, which I am ignoring in favor of work so far, has a light sheen of toddler from all the ice cream served this past weekend.

Since I have another week to get this competition entry together, we are revisiting our modern, Cor-Ten, pool pavillion. I promise, after this post I’m going to be sick of it. Actually, I don’t think I could ever get sick of this amazing structure, which I just learned was originally conceived as a tractor rusting away in the field, but I promise to show you a different project next week since this is the 3rd time (who’s counting?) I’m asking you to chime in here.  Without further ado, here’s the big questions:

Which image best represents the outdoor shower?

Thanks for all your input. I really enjoy the discussion every week. And I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I’m thinking of crashing the Pool Pavillion…
