Chewie and Rufus are 5 Years Old Today!!

Mini Chewbacca and his best brother Rufus both turn 5 years old today! It’s a huge birthday week over here at Sequined Asphault Studio because Dug’s birthday is on Sunday, and he reminded me that my three best boys are all 35 this year. Course math is no problem for Dug if he’s counting dog years. That’s Ru on the left rocking his party garb. As much as his Dads mock me for putting them in the occassional compromising position, Rufus generally carries it with ease while just Chewie tolerates/ignores it all.

These guys are the best. They are amazing dogs, and I hope we are as good as ‘their people’. They bring so much love to our lives, it’s incredible. Having never had a pet before, I was so afraid Chewie was going to prevent me from having fun – that thought now is laughable since all he does is bring smiles.

To commemorate his birthday, here are some pics from the first week I brought Chewie home. When I thought he was a pooping machine and that he’d never sleep. Ever. Just cry all night. And poop. And stare at me. Waiting expectantly for me to play with him. I thought I’d been lied to for the first year and a half. People say dogs sleep all day. Not this guy. Now, though, he’s narcoleptic. And grouchy, but only on the outside.
