Which One? Wednesday | art of the abandoned ed.2
This week we are back in our abandoned factory building in South Norwalk, Connecticut.
I don’t usually do this because I’d hate to sway any opinions, or make you feel like you should censor, but I’m gonna go ahead and tell you straight up, the first one’s my favorite. Hands down. I’m drawn to the doorways. What will they lead you into? And I’m partial to the photos that show the juxtaposition of the framework of the mill building versus the more modern and defaced sheetrock. Since I have a couple of other shots in the series that may have the same effect, it’s possible that we’ll choose a final shot that focuses more on the graffiti art.
This has been a hugely popular photo because everyone at the office is crazy about this tag. I’m very interested in what you have to say here. And I can’t wait to show you the whole series when it’s complete. So you guys, which one?
If this is your first time here, Which One? is a regular Wednesday feature where readers help me through some of the final editing for various projects. You can see past Which One? Wednesdays here at Tripping on Asphalt.

I like the second one, well actually I like the first one because of the same reason you do…the contrast of old and new, but in that photo it seems staged. So my vote goes to #2…my eye is constanly circling that tag-it seems to change as you look at it! The sheetrock rubble is a nice contrast to the sleek white and bold colors of the wall and the doorway is intriguing. I would crop the top more-up to the top of the wall so you don’t see the blackness above.
I always like the adventure/what’s lurking aspect. So, I agree on #1. Also, I like the context – debris on the floor, exposed pipes of the building…
Three to pick from?! Well I go with the first one too. I think it’s because I like the framework above and the debris below, combined with the bright graffiti colors. Winner – #1!
I have to go with # 1 also because there is so much to look at and think about.
Photo #1 makes me feel something on an emotional level that the others don’t. #2 has impact with the great artwork and vibrant colors, kept real with the rubble, yet bright/happy. Photo #1, to me, elicits feelings of yesteryear, of what once was and is no longer, and that sadly didn’t thrive. I would vote for #1.
The 1st one..so so much to see all at one. Lost in what to look at first. The place is huge. Prefer #2. I was ready to go thru the door to see what was on the side…A little adventure. keep up the great work!!
I would definitely go with the first one. It’s intriguing & I want to know what’s through the other doors – great shot! Aine – BYW 2.0
Wow! Great images! Love the second with all the intense blue and green hues!
Wishing you all the best,
